THE ASEAN SCHOLARS INTERESTED IN OPEN INNOVATION? A BIBLIOMETRICS ANALYSIS WITH SCOPUS DATASET BETWEEN 2009-2024
Last modified: 2024-07-24
Abstract
In the present era, it is no longer sufficient to view a particular invention as the product of predetermined and separate contributions. Instead, it is the result of a open innovation process where knowledge is exchanged between a firm and external sources. The main objective of this study is to examine the evolution of research on open innovation. This study aims to provide insights into the motivations of authors and journals in seeking suitable coordinators and identifying future research subjects within this specific research field. We conducted a bibliometric analysis of 295 papers authored by scholars from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) between 2009 and the present. We retrieved these articles from the Scopus database. The results show that “resources for open innovation” and “open innovation performance” are the most prominent topics in this field. Based on publication productivity, this topic has received particularly strong attention from 2019 onwards, in which absorptive capacity, social capital, and intellectual capital shape the research trend on open innovation among Asean scholars.
