Abstract

Background: The Industrial Revolution 4.0 is revolutionizing business through digital technology, known as digital transformation, which is the key to the current business model. Digital transformation has become essential, particularly in hospitals in the healthcare sector. Leaders must actively adapt to these conditions to comply with government regulations and meet patient needs. Objective: To explore the description of transformational leadership and digital transformation in hospitals. Method: A narrative review was conducted by collecting 38 articles related to leadership transformation and digital transformation in hospitals, with the articles ranging from 2019 to 2024. These articles were then assessed, identified, analyzed, and summarized from previously published literature. Results: The article search through Google Scholar using the keywords "transformational leadership" and "digital transformation in healthcare/hospitals" resulted in 38 journals. However, 31 journals were found to be relevant and supportive of the theme. There were 15 journals related to healthcare or hospitals, 15 journals unrelated to healthcare, and 1 journals related to the pandemic era. Conclusion: Journals supporting the influence of transformational leadership on digital transformation amounted to 48.5%, but only one journal specifically discussed digital transformation in hospitals.
